The show opens up to a confused woman waking up on a ship. Although, this is no ordinary ship. It takes place in 1899, and you can tell from the attire and the attitudes of guests on the ship. There is a basement-like dungeon that some people must live in while others stay in the high class luxury part of the ship. The hierarchal structure of the boat is a very clear divide. Apparently, the boat is taking immigrants to New York City.

The “Real” 1899 Storyline *Mild Spoilers*

The real storyline of the show follows a strange disappearance of a ship called Prometheus. It was lost at sea 4 months prior to this expedition. Although, while the ship was traveling to New York City, they received a radio signal 4 hours out from them. The captain realizes that no other ship should be in that range.. no other ship but the Prometheus was possible. The captain makes the executive decision to turn the ship to make way towards the Prometheus. Then, things start to take a strange turn.
