RoboBurger is the company that makes these burger vending machines a reality. It was founded by a man named Audley Wilson. The creation spurred from the idea of wanting a meal to be convenient; Wilson and his team dreamt that students would have access to hot, fresh and affordable meals even at 2:00 AM while they prepare for finals. The robotic chefs are able to cook and serve the burgers within 6 minutes for $6.99, which is pretty impressive. RoboBurger covers 12 square ft. and is able to function properly just by plugging it into an electrical outlet. RoboBurger is the first hot food vending machine approved at the gold standard for food safety by the National Sanitary Foundation.
I could see this being the future of fast food. I mean, an AI that can cook food could very well take over the industry. This would be dangerous for fast food workers. Although, these types of vending machines are not new in other countries. In Europe, there’s a Let’s Pizza vending machine that dispenses 10.5″ pizza pies. Also, in Moscow at Sheremetyevo international airport, there is a burger vending machine.
These inventions are a step in the right direction. I applaud the new technology to be a part of our every day lives. It won’t be long before we see these vending machines in our airports, malls, and venues.
