There’s a new city emerging that will be a beautiful scene to see. In Maldives (South Asia), 10 minutes from the capital, there will be a new city made completely on water. This is huge, being the second floating city ever made. The first floating city is the OCEANIX Busan in South Korea which is still under construction but will be completed by 2025. It’s truly amazing to see architects and construction workers with the skill to pull this off.
In a press release from the Government of Maldives, they claim that cultures have made their livelihood on the water. They’ve wanted to make floating island cities a reality for a while, but didn’t have the infrastructure to pull it off. The Netherlands company Dutch Docklands is now working with the Government of Maldives to make this dream a reality. Their goal is to make a sustainable living situation in the floating city. The Maldives Government is claiming that this will be a one-of-a-kind city, that’s much more technologically improved than other attempts at a floating city.
It will take a half-decade to construct the floating city in Maldives. The construction is starting at some point this year in 2022. I really can’t wait to see what the final version of this looks like. I love the creation of new ideas; and the innovation to make old ideas better. This will certainly be something that’s going to be historical when successfully done. I’m excited to see the Maldives Floating City when it’s ready.
