Virtual reality is a really fun piece of technology to play around with. I truly do see virtual reality becoming more common than game systems in the next decade. There is another reality that is equally as interesting as virtual reality, called augmented reality.
Augmented reality uses technology to make the setting that you are in, interactive. This means if you put on augmented reality glasses, you would be able to see real world objects change and morph into whatever the developer designs. Augmented reality can go as far as touch, smell, and sound. Developers use computer generated inputs to enhance users psychical world.
Virtual reality uses technology to place you in a complete 360 fantasy world. With a headset on, you would be immersed in the game completely. While in VR, you are not able to interact with nor see objects in the real life. You are usually confined in an area of your choosing to not destroy objects around you while on it.
One could say that the safer option between virtual reality and augmented reality is augmented reality. This is because you are able to still see the real world while using it. Although, I can vouch that VR is extremely fun. I’ve only seen augmented reality on iPhone apps and while it’s a cool idea, I think it has a ways to go before actually capturing my attention.
