Let’s face it, tattoos are the most popular they’ve ever been right now. The ages of people that are getting tattoos are getting younger and younger as time goes on. Throughout the years, not much has changed in the inking process… until now. Researchers at Georgia Tech have developed a way to ink a painless tattoo.
How Does A Painless Tattoo Get Inked?
The science behind a painless tattoo has to do with microscopic needles. The needles can be arranged in the pattern of a tattoo, and pressed onto the skin without any pain. It all starts with a mold (with microneedles) of the pattern of the tattoo intended. The mold is then filled with ink and a patch is added so that you can move the mold safely. The patch is applied to the skin and then boom! You have a new tattoo after a few minutes without bleeding nor pain.
Is This Only Possible With Black Ink?
The ink available for painless tattoos is not exclusive to only black. You can use many different colors using this microneedle technique. I don’t see any reason why someone wouldn’t get a tattoo this way.
Do They Last?
These tattoos are likely permanent. In the study it showed that the tattoos last at least up until a year long. Depending on the ink and preference, you may be able to get a nice temporary tattoo as well. This is a big step away from traditional tattooing, although it’s evolving the culture of it. This microneedle technique is safer, low-cost, and faster than getting a tattoo from a shop.
