The horror movie “SMILE” has been teased for a couple of months with teasers, and trailers. In one of the most interesting marketing campaigns I’ve ever seen, SMILE has struck gold. The movie is a horror, based on people possessed by some kind of entity that in turn makes them have a sinister, creepy grin. It follows a psychologist The marketing campaign sent actors to public events to just display a creepy smile (without breaking).
The SMILE campaign has gotten so popular that there’s even a website dedicated to showcasing “SMILE sightings“. If you would like to check out that website, click here. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, The director Parker Finn said that “we were all kind of like crossing our fingers that somebody might notice.” I’ve got to give Paramount+ props, it was very clever and ballsy. The movie has done so well in their campaigns that the movie has actually been pushed up from a Paramount+ release to a theatrical release. The movie releases tonight at some theaters, with a worldwide release tomorrow, September 30th.
