I love movies that have some sort of twist. Something unexpected happening always makes entertainment so much better. I’ve seen a lot of movies, and have picked a few of the best movies with twists to recommend. I will stray far away from any spoilers, don’t worry.
#1 Shutter Island
This is a movie starring Leonardo DiCaprio as a man solving the mystery of a disappearance at an old insane asylum. This insane in asylum is unique because it’s on it’s own island. During the adventure he uncovers a ton of terrifying information that leaves a trail, which he follows. The movie may seem uninteresting at parts, but stay attentive, it pays off!
#2 KIDS (1995)
This movie is the most controversial movie i’ve ever seen. It’s certainly a wake-up call to the youth, but in a very vulgar way. KIDS has a ton of pro skaters in the movie, and a story line that isn’t half bad. I don’t want to give too much away about this film, it might scare you off. This is a warning that this movie is extreme, this is not a film you’d want to watch if you want to see something politically correct; although, it’s a unique one-of-it’s kind cult classic.
#3 Gone Girl
This was an amazingly written film. Gone Girl is a movie about a man that is working with the cops to see who murdered his wife. It’s a very thrilling ride, entertaining and unexpected. I went into this movie blind on a date when it first came out, and it turned out to be amazing for me. I’d advise you to do the same, it’s a bit long so schedule when you have a free 2 hours and give it a watch.
#4 Get Out
Get Out is Jordan Peele’s directorial debut. It’s another greatly written film. It follows a couple taking a trip to see the wives family. The couple is interracial, and there’s a bit of a tense energy around race. The build up and suspense make this movie fun to watch. If you like thrillers that are unexpected, this is the one. Beware, it gets spooky.
#5 Fight Club
What’s a must-see movie list with a twist without Fight Club? This is absolutely the most shocking twist to me. I couldn’t believe it when I first watched the movie. If you are unaware, Fight Club follows a man that gets involved with an underground fighting league. By being in this league, his life starts to change. It’s a great movie, and you won’t regret watching it.
