Leave the World Behind is an upcoming psychological thriller film directed by Sam Esmail and starring Julia Roberts, Mahershala Ali, Ethan Hawke, and Myha’la Herrold. The film is based on the 2020 novel of the same name by Rumaan Alam.
The film follows two families, the Sandfords and the G.H.s, who are vacationing in a remote cabin when they are suddenly interrupted by a mysterious blackout. The G.H.s, who are the owners of the cabin, arrive at the door one night claiming that there has been a cyberattack and that they need to stay with the Sandfords for their safety. The two families are initially hesitant to trust each other, but they soon realize that they need to work together to survive. As the blackout continues and the world outside becomes increasingly unstable, the families must confront their own fears and prejudices in order to stay safe.
