The history of Corn Flakes is a strange one. Back when breakfast was still being modified to our modern way in America, breakfast used to be served in larger portions (with a lot of meat). The healthiness of breakfast was something that needed to be handled, as health issues stemming from the “big breakfast” would start to arise consistently. Cereal was then invented as a healthier option and is still a a staple in modern breakfast today.
Dr. John Kellogg invented the cereal Corn Flakes which was arguably the most popular cereal. It was a healthy option with barely any sugar in it. This cereal would help people’s health issues of indigestion which was a growing problem. Although, that wasn’t the only health benefit that Dr. Kellogg was focused on.. In fact, he made the bland tasting Corn Flakes to steer people away from masturbation.
Kellogg believed that the diets of people during his time were influencing them to be sex deviants. He spent a lot of his time writing about the dangers of sex and masturbation. He wasn’t so interested in profiting from the Corn Flakes, as he was interested in health and helping people avoid sinning.
