The Weeknd has partnered up with Sam Levinson and Reza Fahim to create a new show on HBO. The Idol follows a young rising pop star’s relationship with a self-help cult-leader guru that also owns an LA Club. We’ve seen The Weeknd act in the movie Uncut Gems alongside Julia Fox, so this won’t be his acting debut. Although, we are all hoping that this turns out to be a promising project.
Johnny Depp’s Daughter, Lily-Rose Depp also will star in the show. It seems that she will be playing the rising pop star, and The Weeknd will be playing her cult-leader boyfriend. Also, a singer named Jennie from K-Pop group BLACKPINK will be appearing as well in the show. She stated “I found the script very intriguing, so I wanted to be a part of the series”. The show looks great from the trailer, and i’m excited to see it’s release.
