The question of what blind people actually “see” has been wandering in my head ever since I was a child. Unironically, I thought that there must be something that blind people see. Today, i’ve done my research to give myself the answers i’ve been searching for. The results are shocking.
Turns out that blind people literally cannot see a thing (shocker). They don’t see black “because you have to see to know what black is“. Although, they are able to distinguish light from dark. It is interesting that they are capable of knowing light, from dark whilst being completely blind. It makes me wonder if losing a sense, enhances the others to an extreme, far beyond what we can detect.
While blind people cannot see, they can dream. All other senses are enhanced and they are placed in the same fantasy world that we experience, just without the view. Dreams can be sounds, feelings, odors, flavors, or tactile information.
