Throughout the last decade there’s been speculation that we may possibly be able to move to Mars (if needed). This news came as a response to global warming, and a lot of other problems that the Earth faces. It seems that if we do not counteract all of the dangerous toxins that are released in the air, water, and soil we may be in for a very bleak future. Mars was seen as a sustainable safe-haven as it was the only planet that seemed somewhat liveable. Scientists have spent many years researching if it is possible for humans to live on Mars, NASA even had a project in which they would send people to Mars to live.
Researchers at UCLA looked into the radiation problem of Mars, which would pose a major threat to humans. What needed to be studied was the radiation effect on humans, and also on the spacecraft that would travel to Mars. Studies showed that the spacecraft should be fine on a trip, although that’s just a hypothesis. If the spacecraft is too thick, the radiation will be a problem.
Researchers also said that humans should spend no longer than 4 years on any mission on the planet. This may come as a disappointment to those who wanted to be on a extraterrestrial journey to Mars. Though, with technology anything can be possible in the future. We just have to wait and see what happens.
