A House Oversight subcommittee held a hearing on UFOs on Wednesday, July 26, 2023. The hearing, which was the first open hearing on UFOs in more than 50 years, was attended by lawmakers from both parties, as well as former military officials and experts on UAPs (unidentified aerial phenomena).
The witnesses at the hearing provided testimony about their experiences with UAPs. Former Navy pilot Ryan Graves described seeing unexplained objects flying at high speeds and making sudden movements that defied the laws of physics. Luis Elizondo, a former Pentagon official who led the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program (AATIP), said that the government has been withholding information about UAPs from the public.
Lawmakers at the hearing expressed concern about the potential national security implications of UAPs. They also pressed the witnesses for more information about what the government knows about UAPs and what it is doing to investigate them.
The hearing did not provide any definitive answers about UAPs, but it did raise awareness of the issue and put pressure on the government to be more transparent about what it knows.
