The island in Northern Colombia called Santa Cruz Del Isolte is the most crowded island in the world. You may imagine that this island is big, but it’s very crowded because it’s very small. Santa Cruz del Islote is only about 0.01 square kilometers (0.004 square miles) in size, making it one of the smallest inhabited islands in the world. This island is home to around 800+ people, but that number changes very frequently. This is an artificial island, meaning that it is man-made.
The people that live on the island control the island. They have no police force nor hospital, but the community is able to come together and handle things on their own. Although, if an absolute emergency happens there are islands nearby that they can travel to. Unfortunately, the island has a lot of trash because of the lack of an efficient garbage-system. The living situation is tough, because on top of that, there is no clean freshwater. The island does include a Chapel, shops, a school, and a soccer field. The most important role on the island is fisherman, because they are the foundation of island. They supply the food for the island to eat.
