There exists a pepper that is more than 500 times hotter than an average jalapeño. The name of this pepper is The Carolina Reaper. It’s currently the hottest pepper in the world, ranked at 2 million Scoville Heat Units.
The Carolina Reaper has gained attention in the past from internet challenges. The creator, Ed Currie, gets a kick out of watching people challenge themselves. Currie actually didn’t try to make the hottest pepper, it was sort-of an accident. While experimenting with cross-breads, trying to just make something good, one of the experiments turned out to be The Carolina Reaper.
