I visited Puerto Rico in July of 2019. It’s a beautiful country that I had a great time visiting.
I stayed in San Juan, which is right next to the ocean. The ocean breeze and atmosphere of this country was soothing, relaxing, and all around good vibes. It seemed like there was a real presence of community and family in Puerto Rico, similar to what I’ve felt in Miami, yet more wholesome. Everyone I came in contact with was very kind.
The architecture of the city is colorful and alive, like a painting that’s come to life. The Spanish culture embeds the city and gives it a rich, polarizing tonality. I would encourage checking out the shops as they have various different unique products.
When the sky goes dark, the city lights up. The nightlife in San Juan is very exciting and fun (from what I’ve heard). I didn’t get the chance to experience it much myself, although I did go out late to a convenience store (CVS). On the way, I stopped to look into a few bars and saw how alive it actually was. People were dancing, socializing, and having a good time! I did not see one person on a phone. I’m not gonna lie though, I was feeling a bit strange walking through these streets alone in the less populated areas. Always be aware of your surroundings.
If you ever have the chance to visit Puerto Rico, I recommend it! It’s beautiful, and you can tell that love is in the air.
