Perspective is defined as a point of view. Every human in the world has a unique perspective, that can be shared with others, but experienced alone. It affects our every day lives, and every decision that we make. Perspective cultivated civilization, ended wars, and is the basis of many books. In this article, I will describe how perspective rules the world.
How do we see the same events as others, yet come to different conclusions about what we saw? This happens all the time, and it’s not because we saw things differently. The way we interpret is influenced by past experiences. Age, values, and finances can all be factors contributing into any person’s perspective. Let’s take a trip around the world to find out how perspective is so powerful.
The first perspective group i’d like to talk about is the government. Judges are hired and expected to make expert decisions with their perspective of the situations. Police officers are trained to act quickly, and perception is everything to them. The President of the United States must inherit the perspective of others to make quality decisions. War is initiated, and ended with opposing viewpoints battling each-other because of a different perspective
Next, i’d like to discuss how music is all perspective. We all have our favorite songs, and the ones we hate. Some of the songs we love, our friends may hate. We both hear the same thing, just different perspectives. Songwriters make it seem that you are there with the song, the added perspective they give with the lyrics, paints a picture. All the best songs are one with a unique perspective (or not).
Lastly, I want to give the perspective of teachers. Teachers have to explain information so that their students retain it and understand it fully. Just like The President, they also inherit the perspective of others: their students. Teachers are very important, and i’m sure they understand the importance of perspective.
Perspective defines our experiences, and fuels our actions. We have been fully immersed in our own perspective for our whole lives. Maybe it would benefit us as a whole, to look outward to expand our perspectives. To try and understand what other people see, even when we don’t see it ourselves, is hard. It’s not easy, but it’s necessary. Our interpretation is everything; so we need to constantly rewire our perspectives for ourselves, and others. If you take a look back in time, you can see that some things of the past were beyond belief. It’s the same world today, with a different perspective.
