This has been a great couple weeks for Hip Hop. We have the Hip Hop all-stars Drake and Kendrick Lamar approaching a beef with songs coming from both sides. Although, in the mix there’s been a wrench thrown in the plans.. which is AI. The leaked tracks of Drake and Kendrick Lamar have been speculated to be, and also confirmed to be, AI. Drake had a song called “Push Ups” leaked, while this was a real track and ended up being released.. there was a version that was actually a fake, made by AI. Also, there was a Kendrick Lamar response diss track that released which was also confirmed to be AI. Though, nothing comes close to the bold move of Drake, by using AI to clone the voices of Snoop Dogg and 2Pac Shakur in his newest track “Taylor Made Freestyle”.

Rap and AI, What’s The Problem?

The problem with AI and rap is something we saw earlier this week. We won’t be able to tell what is AI and what is not in the near future. The leaked AI songs of Drake and Kendrick Lamar sounded exactly like them, and AI is only getting more sophisticated. Will we see a future where artists will let users use their likeness if they create some AI songs that are actually good? It’s possible to bring AI in for some good things, like bringing Drake on to you debut single. Though, it’s just another one of those things where.. we’ll just have to wait and see.
